First I started off by trying on my Jeans... as you can see they were very long and straight legged. My sister found these at a yard sale for $1. what a great find!!!
Next I marked where i wanted to cut my shorts. I did mine sorta short in the front then a smidge longer in the back just because my thighs are thick and when walking they make my shorts ride up, making my cheeks show, & i hope every lady knows that thats not cute.
Then I cut them, (make sure you pull your pockets out before you cut) I first make a slit the cut the top layer first, then I cut the back of the pants. If you were to cut them at the same time it could come out shorter than what you want. Then of course i did the other leg.
To make the frayed ends you can go 2 ways, the first way to to pull the little threads (this takes a while) OR you can just pop them right in the washer and they will fray on their own. I chose to throw them in the washer.
After cutting I started the bleaching process. before you bleach YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN A VENTILATED PLACE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL PASS OUT. I chose to bleach on my porch and I sill got a little dizzy. So, I got a old Suav spray bottle, poured out all the chemical and put bleach inside. Instead of pouring bleach on directly I sprayed it. FAIL, by the end of spraying them and not seeing any result I eventually poured bleach in random spots. How you pour the bleach on your shorts is totally up to you. there are various ways, one side bleached, the top the bottom or even the front or back. I bleached them and waited for about 10 mins. Came back and this is what i got.
Yeah they look a yellowish color rather than a white but no worries they will turn white eventually.
I didn't like them so i went back and put some more random spots. on the top and one on the bottom.
I rinsed my shorts in the washer and because i already had clothes to wash i just added them in with my bright colored load. Dried them and.....
*WALA*
Meet the new addition to my wardrobe... :)
Now what you want to do to your shorts after this is up to you. I've seen everything from cheeta print design to lace pockets... these shorts are for the creative mind to design.
Enjoy :)
Love these shorts :)
